Fortnum & Mason to Open Asia, Mideast Stores, Telegraph Reports
Fortnum & Mason Plc plans to open its first overseas stores since it closed an outlet on Madison Avenue in New York in 1929, the Sunday Telegraph reported, citing an interview with Chief Executive Officer Beverley Aspinall.
The U.K. company is looking at opportunities to open stores in China and the Middle East, including Qatar, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait, the newspaper cited Aspinall as saying. India will be considered later, she said.
Fortnum & Mason has 14 stores inside retailer Mitsukoshi’s shops in Japan, the Telegraph said. The new ventures will be franchises with local partners and will have the Fortnum name on the front, Aspinall was quoted as saying.
