Packers' Win Over Eagles Is Most-Watched NFC First-Round Game Since 1991
The Green Bay Packers’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles was the most-watched National Football Conference first-round playoff game in 20 years.
The Packers’ 21-16 win yesterday, aired by News Corp.’s Fox, was viewed by 24.4 percent of households in the nation’s 56 largest metered markets, the network said in an e-mail. The ratings are the highest for an NFC first-round game since the Chicago Bears defeated the New Orleans Saints 16-6 in 1991 on CBS.
The game outdrew the New York Jets’ prime time victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Jan. 8, which had an overnight rating of 20.8 on NBC Universal. The wins by the Packers and Jets were both watched by 21.7 percent of households in New York, Fox said.
