Richard Powell Jr. to Lead Communications Efforts for Bloomberg
Powell will oversee the expansion of Bloomberg’s global communications strategy and infrastructure
NEW YORK -- Bloomberg L.P. today announced that Richard C. Powell, Jr. will join the company as chief communications officer. He will join the company from Burson-Marsteller, where he is currently chief operating officer worldwide.
In his new role, Powell will oversee the expansion of Bloomberg’s communications strategy and infrastructure to support the company’s global growth in new and existing markets.
“Rick has demonstrated the strategic vision and abilities that will build on Bloomberg’s leadership position worldwide,” said Peter Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg L.P. “His experience in international communications and finance will be valuable assets at Bloomberg.”

Powell will report to Kevin Sheekey, head of government relations and public affairs at Bloomberg L.P. and Chairman of Bloomberg Government.
Powell’s career has included senior management roles in communications, public affairs and venture capital firms and has overseen numerous global projects for multinational corporations and government leaders. Prior to his current role at Burson- Marsteller, he served as managing director of Quinn Gillespie & Associates in Washington, DC.
