Biden Chief of Staff Klain Leaving Post This Month, White House Announces

Ron Klain, chief of staff for Vice President Joe Biden, is leaving his post later this month to become president of Case Holdings, the holding company of America Online founder Steve Case.

Biden said in a statement that Klain has been a friend and adviser for 25 years. “As my chief of staff in the White House, Ron has done an exceptional job of building my team, implementing my direction on top priorities, and providing invaluable counsel,” Biden said.

Klain, 49, also had been chief of staff to former Vice President Al Gore. He was among the candidates to serve as Obama’s chief of staff following the departure of Rahm Emanuel from the White House.

Klain previously worked for Case and will now advise the AOL founder and his wife, Jean, on business interests and their philanthropic activities, Case said in a statement. “We are delighted to welcome Ron Klain back,” Case said.
