AES Idles Output From Huntington Beach Units in California
AES Corp., an Arlington, Virginia- based power producer, idled output at two natural gas-fired units at a Southern California plant.
The company’s 225.8-megawatt Huntington Beach Generating Station Unit 1 had 85.8 megawatts offline as of 3:15 p.m. local time today, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.
The 225.8-megawatt Unit 2 at the plant was completely idled today in an unplanned shutdown after having 115.8 megawatts idled yesterday.
The generating plant has a total capacity of 904 megawatts, according to the website of AES. One megawatt can power 800 typical U.S. homes.
