Calpine Restores Output at Los Medanos Plant in California
Calpine Corp., the biggest U.S. producer of power fueled by natural gas, restored output at a Northern California plant.
The company’s 561.3-megawatt Los Medanos Energy Center was operating at full capacity as of 3:15 p.m. local time, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.
The plant had 321.3 megawatts, or 57 percent, of capacity idled at the same time yesterday as part of a planned shutdown.
The plant is near San Francisco in Pittsburg, California. One megawatt is enough for about 800 typical U.S. homes.
