Lyondell Returns Houston, Texas, Refinery Production

LyondellBasell Industries NV is returning to normal production levels at its Houston refinery after a plantwide shutdown last week, David Harpole, a plant spokesman, said in a telephone interview.

The refinery was forced into the shutdown after a third- party steam and power provide had a malfunction early Nov. 20, Harpole said. The steam supply was restored and the refinery began restarting units the same day.

“The plant is up and running,” Harpole said. LyondellBasell reported a loss of steam on Nov. 20 from its Houston, Texas, refinery, according to a filing with state regulators. The refinery “implemented emergency steps to reduce flaring.” Emissions associated with the incident occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. local time on Nov. 20.

The refinery has a capacity of about 300,000 barrels a day, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
