Banco Santander, Grifols Shares Are Active in Madrid Trading

Banco Santander SA (SAN SM) fell for a sixth time in the last seven trading days, losing 0.8 percent to 9.254 euros. Spain’s biggest bank is no longer in talks to merge its U.S. unit Sovereign Bank with M&T Bank Corp., Expansion reported, citing Santander’s Chief Executive Officer Alfredo Saenz.
Grifols SA (GRF SM) sank 2 percent to 10.71 euros, erasing yesterday’s 0.8 percent gain. Europe’s largest maker of blood- plasma products cut the interest rate it will pay on $1.6 billion of term loans to fund its purchase of Talecris Biotherapeutics Holdings Corp., according to a person familiar with the transaction.
