Singer George Michael Given Eight-Week Prison Sentence, Sky News Reports
George Michael, the British singer who formed the duo Wham! in 1981, received an eight-week prison sentence after he admitted crashing his Range Rover while under the influence of cannabis, Sky News reported.
Michael, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, pleaded guilty in court last month to driving while unfit through drugs and possessing two cannabis cigarettes, Sky News said.
Police found Michael, 47, slumped at the wheel of his vehicle after crashing into the front of a shop on the morning of July 4 in Hampstead, North London, Sky News said.
Michael’s public relations firm, CF Publicity, declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg News today.
