U.K.'s Gulfsands Says ADX Suspended Drilling in Tunisia After Finding Gas
Gulfsands Petroleum Plc, a U.K. explorer operating in the Middle East and the U.S., said partner ADX Energy Ltd. suspended drilling at the Lambouka-1 well offshore Tunisia after discovering natural gas.
“As a result of down-hole problems, no fluid samples or gas flow could be established,” London-based Gulfsands said in a statement today. “Suspension will allow re-entry at a later date and provide the best opportunity to minimize rig time and maximize reservoir information.”
The well was drilled by ADX, the operator of the Kerkouane offshore license, in which Gulfsands has agreed to buy a 30 percent stake. The explorer owns two adjacent permits southwest of Sicily and northeast of Tunisia covering an area of 4,500 square kilometers (1,737 square miles).
