Patrick Ewing Jr. Signs With Knicks, Joining His Father's Old Team

Patrick Ewing is back with the New York Knicks. This time, it’s Patrick Ewing Jr.

The Knicks said in a statement that they signed the 26- year-old son of Patrick Ewing, a former National Basketball Association All-Star center and Hall of Fame member who spent 15 seasons in New York.

Ewing Jr. averaged 4.8 points and 11.3 minutes in four games for the Knicks’ entry in the NBA Summer League. The 6- foot-8, 240-pound forward played the 2008-09 season with the Reno Bighorns of the NBA D-League and missed the 2009-10 season with a knee injury.

The elder Ewing was the NBA’s No. 1 draft pick in 1985 by the Knicks and played with them through 2000. He holds the team records for points (23,665), rebounds (10,759) and steals (1,061).

Ewing Jr. spent two years at Indiana University before transferring to Georgetown University, his father’s school, in 2005. He was selected 43rd overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2008 draft.

The terms of deal weren’t disclosed.
