Cardiff Beats Toulon to Clinch First European Rugby Title for Welsh Team

Cardiff Blues beat Toulon 28-21 in the final of rugby’s Amlin Challenge Cup to become the first Welsh club to win a European trophy.
Jamie Roberts, Leigh Halfpenny and Bradley Davies got tries for the Blues at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille, with Halfpenny also adding a penalty and Ben Blair kicking 10 points.
Sonny Bill Williams and Thomas Sourice were Toulon’s try scorers. Jonny Wilkinson got eight points, while Tom May kicked a penalty.
Cardiff, which rallied from 13-6 down at halftime, came into the competition in the quarterfinals after failing to advance in the elite Heineken Cup.
Yesterday, Toulouse won the Heineken Cup for a record fourth time with a 21-19 victory against Biarritz.
