Germany’s RWE to Pump Gas to Slovakia, Contribute to Gas Group
RWE AG (RWE) said it will pump gas from its own supplies to Slovakia in addition to providing transit services for the fuel.
Delivery through the company’s Czech Republic-based RWE Transgas AS unit will start tomorrow at 8 a.m., RWE said in an e-mailed statement. The agreement follows negotiations between Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and RWE Transgas Chief Executive Officer Martin Herrmann, according to the statement.
RWE said it will pump 3.75 million cubic meters of gas per day from its own supplies to Slovakia, rising to 6.25 million cubic meters per day from Jan. 20. The company will buy some of the gas needed for Slovakia in other foreign markets, it added.
RWE Transgas is participating in the preparations for the proposed European group that would facilitate the resumption of gas deliveries through Ukraine, its parent said.
