Serena Williams, Amy Schumer, Patti Smith, and Yoko Ono Star in Pinup Calendar

The infamous Pirelli calendar is taking a new direction this year with photographer Annie Leibovitz behind the lens. Long noted for its panting nude women draped on cars—or tires, or bicycles—the 2016 edition features women who have achieved excellence in their fields. Serena Williams, Yoko Ono, Natalia Vodianova, Amy Schumer, Kathleen Kennedy, Yao Chen, Mellody Hobson, Fran Lebowitz, Ava Duvernay, Agnes Gund, Patti Smith, Shrin Neshat, and Tavi Gevinson made the cut. Here are some behind-the-scenes shots to stall your appetite till its official debut Nov. 30.

“I started to think about the roles that women play, women who have achieved something," Leibovitz said about her intentions for the shoot. She called it a welcome departure to photograph achievers such as No. 1-ranked women's singles tennis player Serena Williams.
