biggest weekly gain since February, on speculation a weaker
dollar and rising energy costs will boost investor demand for the
metal as a hedge against inflation. Silver also gained.
Wheat Falls as High Prices Lead to Record Global Output, USDA Forecasts Wheat fell after the U.S. government
said world production of the grain will rise to a record,
rebuilding inventories that are forecast to fall to a 30-year
low before harvests are completed.
Platinum Rises in N.Y. on Outlook for Steady China Demand, New Securities Platinum gained the most in six weeks
on speculation that demand in China, the world's fastest growing
economy, will offset slowdowns in other countries. Palladium
also rose.
