Switzerland’s 1,000-franc ($1,023) note remains popular even as its role in abetting crime gets questioned. Harvard Professor Kenneth Rogoff has urged large banknotes be scrapped, saying Switzerland’s highest-denomination bill does “more harm than good.” However, Swiss National Bank President Thomas Jordan has said there are no plans to get rid of any denominations even after the European Central Bank announced the end of the 500-euro ($558) bill.
