- Move comes as lender looks to expand in corporate banking
- Ryan Hearity also joins from Santander in public debt role
CaixaBank SA has hired former Banco Santander SA executive Inigo Bastarrica to head equity capital markets, as Spain’s third-largest lender expands in corporate banking.
Bastarrica will report to Managing Director Ignacio Moliner, who leads the M&A, equity capital markets and debt capital markets divisions, a spokesman for CaixaBank said. Trader Ryan Hearity has also joined CaixaBank from Santander as assistant director of public debt.
CaixaBank is growing its corporate-banking business as part of its 2015 to 2018 strategic plan to boost profitability fourfold. The Barcelona-based lender has hired senior bankers in the last year including Lorenz Altenburg as head of fixed income syndicate desk and Diego Aguinaga as head of energy and telecoms. Moliner joined CaixaBank from Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA earlier this year.
