BlueCrest Capital Management hired Daniel Strauss Vasques, a former partner at emerging markets-focused investment firm Spinnaker Capital Group, as a money manager in London.
Vasques, who was head of macro trading for Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia at Spinnaker Capital, started at the investment firm run by billionaire Michael Platt on Monday, according to Ed Orlebar, a spokesman for BlueCrest. Vasques declined to comment.
BlueCrest is strengthening its investment team following the departure of several money managers since the firm’s decision in December to return money to clients and focus on managing Platt’s wealth and that of his partners and employees.
Last month, it hired Nick Chetwynd-Talbot, a former money manager at Visium Asset Management, to focus on investments in the consumer sector. Other Recent hires include Patrick Badenoch, from BlueMountain Capital Management, and former Citigroup Inc. trader Brendan Behan.
