- Former San Antonio mayor took ownership stake in November
- Stake is largest after majority owner and CEO Suzanne Shank
Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry Cisneros’ name has been added to the masthead of the municipal debt underwriter known as Siebert Brandford Shank & Co. for 20 years.
The firm is now named Siebert Cisneros Shank & Co., reflecting Cisneros, a former mayor of San Antonio, joining in November as part owner. The investment bank is majority owned by Suzanne Shank, one of its co-founders, the New York and Oakland, California-based company said in a statement.
The firm was the third-largest minority-owned municipal bond underwriter in the first half of 2016, with $1.4 billion of deals, according to Thomson Reuters. Since it was founded in 1996, the company has handled $1.2 trillion of municipal-bond transactions, according the release. It has 17 offices nationwide.
Napoleon Brandford III, the founder of a predecessor firm whose name was incorporated in the name, retired in November amid the ownership changes. Muriel Siebert, who was the first woman to buy a seat on the New York Stock Exchange, died in 2013.
