The main fund at David Einhorn’s Greenlight Capital declined 0.3 percent in August, trimming its year-to-date gain to 5.4 percent, according to an e-mail sent to investors that was obtained by Bloomberg.
Jonathan Gasthalter, an external spokesman for New York-based Greenlight, declined to comment on the returns.
Einhorn is outperforming peers again as he bounces back from only his second down year on record. The average hedge fund was up 0.9 percent this year through Aug. 30, preliminary data from Hedge Fund Research Inc. show.
