China Agrees to $410 Million Thermal Plant Deal in Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast’s Starenergie 2073 said it signed a 367 million euro ($410 million) deal with China Energy Engineering Corp. to finance and build a 372 megawatt thermal power plant in the West African nation.

Construction of the plant near the town of Songon, 50 kilometers (31 miles) east of Abidjan, will start before the end of the year, Starenergie’s head Richard Amon said in an interview in the country’s commercial capital. Turbines for the project will be supplied by General Electric Co., Amon said.
