A record 137,791 people sat for the Chartered Financial Analyst exam in 91 countries in June, according to a statement from the CFA Institute on Tuesday. Forty six percent of test-takers passed the three-level exam, which typically takes candidates four years to complete. The charter is popular among financiers seeking new jobs, higher salaries or a better understanding of the market. The 10-year average pass rate improved with each phase of the three-level exam: 40 percent, 43 percent and 51 percent.
