Moelis & Co., the advisory firm founded by Wall Street veteran Ken Moelis, hired former Bank of America Corp. adviser Stefan Mueller to head investment banking in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Mueller will be a managing director based in Frankfurt, Moelis said in a statement Friday. He most recently served as Bank of America’s co-head of investment banking for German speaking countries. Before that, Mueller worked at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
Moelis, which had an initial public offering in 2014, is expanding its deals staff as bankers flee bigger European rivals, co-President Navid Mahmoodzadegan told investors in June. The firm this week hired Deutsche Bank AG’s Greg Starkins to advise industrial, aerospace and defense companies. Mueller will work alongside Jan Caspar Hoffmann, who joined Moelis from Societe Generale SA as the head of mergers and acquisitions for German-speaking countries in 2014.
“Cross-border and intra-European deal making remain active as Germany and other European countries continue to be attractive areas for investment,” Ken Moelis, chairman and chief executive officer, said in Friday’s statement.
