Vestas Wind Systems A/S received a 53-megawatt order for its turbines from Xcel Energy Inc. in the U.S.

Delivery is planned for December, the Danish manufacturer said in an e-mailed statement. The contract is in follow-up the conditional agreement in April to supply the Minneapolis-based developer’s proposed Rush Creek wind farm in Colorado. That agreement was for as many as as 300 of Vestas’ V110-2.0 turbines.

Rush Creek plans to install 600 megawatts capacity, expecting to become the state’s largest wind project. Xcel filed an application for approval with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission last month.
