European Union President Donald Tusk said the EU won’t start exit procedures for the U.K. without formal notification.

“Europe is ready to start the divorce process even today, without an enthusiasm as you can imagine. This is not the scenario we were dreaming about,” Tusk told reporters in Brussels on Tuesday.

“I would like to underline very clearly -- without the notification from the U.K., we will not start any negotiations on the divorce process or future relations,” Tusk said.

Tusk said he will propose an informal meeting of EU leaders in September, perhaps in Bratislava.
