EDF Energies Nouvelles SA’s Israeli subsidiary commissioned a 50-megawatt solar plant in Israel.
The Zmorot photovoltaic plant is located in the Negev desert in southern Israel, the Paris-based company said in a statement. The panels were supplied by EDF ENR PWT, a manufacturer owned by Electricite de France SA.
EDF EN Israel now operates 11 solar plants in Israel with a combined capacity of 160 megawatts of installed capacity.
Israel has set a target for 17 percent of its energy mix to be renewables by 2030. Solar PV makes up around 3 percent now, according to the Ministry of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water.
