Tough-talking Rodrigo Duterte’s win in the Philippines presidential election Monday met a more positive reaction from investors than he achieved during the election campaign, when the nation’s assets slid amid concern he lacked policy-making experience. Strategists said the Davao mayor’s comments after the vote that it was time to start a process of “healing,” were reassuring. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index stock market rose 0.4 percent as of 11:50 a.m. in Manila Tuesday, paring its decline over the past three trading sessions to about 0.9 percent, while the peso advanced against the U.S. dollar and all its regional peers.
