Britons love a cup of tea, although they increasingly prefer a coffee. As tea sales declined for a fifth straight year, Brits drank about 2.1 billion cups of coffee in rest stops and restaurants in 2015, 4.3 percent more than in 2014. “The share of tea in a country famed for its love of this beverage has slipped significantly,” said Muriel Illig, a manager at researcher NPD Group.
