- Heller succeeds Felix Martin Garcia, who led unit for 6 years
- Executive previously worked at Kraft, Merck, Johnson & Johnson
Danone picked Bridgette Heller, an executive with 17 years experience working at consumer goods and pharmaceutical companies, to become head of its infant formula business.
Heller will take over from Felix Martin Garcia, who led the unit for almost six years, as of July 1, the Paris-based company said in a statement Wednesday. Heller’s career has included jobs at Merck & Co. in consumer products, Johnson & Johnson’s baby-care business and Kraft Foods.
The maker of Aptamil and Nutrilon baby food has struggled to turn around its baby-food business in China and sold the Dumex brand in that market to Yashili International Holdings Ltd. last year. In 2015 the baby-food unit had the strongest sales growth at Danone, approaching 10 percent, with an operating margin of 19 percent.
Martin Garcia worked for 18 years at Danone, which didn’t say what he’s doing next.
