Japanese companies embroiled in accounting fraud and other forms of wrongdoing filed for a record 289 bankruptcies in the fiscal year ended March 31, according to a Teikoku Databank Ltd. report on April 8. More bankruptcies can be expected as companies cast a sharper eye over their business partners and cut ties with non-compliant ones, the data provider said.
