Lagarde Cites `Brexit' Among Geopolitical Risks to Global Growth

Lagarde: 'Brexit' Part of 2016 Geopolitical Uncertainty

International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde cited the U.K.’s June referendum on exiting the European Union as among the threats to the global economy.

In an interview in Frankfurt on Tuesday with Bloomberg Television’s Francine Lacqua, Lagarde said “some very concerning geopolitical threats” added to downside risks to the outlook.

A vote to leave the EU, a so-called Brexit, is “clearly part of the uncertainty we have at the moment,” Lagarde said, also citing risks to the financial sector in the City of London.
