France’s National Front said it isn’t implicated in any revelation emanating from the release of the so-called “Panama papers.”
The Le Monde newspaper Tuesday said two people who have had business dealings with the party had used shell companies to move money from their activities in France to accounts in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Virgin Islands.
“The National Front is not implicated in the affair of the ‘Panama papers’ and will not tolerate scandalous connections being made,” the anti-European Union party said in a statement on its website.
France’s financial prosecutors said yesterday that they opened a inquiry following Le Monde’s revelations which will focus on French tax residents. David Dassa-Le Deist, the lawyer for the National Front, said he “is not in contact with his clients” on the matter and can’t comment.
