Disney’s ‘Zootopia’ Holds No. 1 With Wide Lead Over 4 New Films

Walt Disney Co.’s “Zootopia” coasted to a easy box-office victory in its second weekend in North American theaters, the latest success for the company’s flagship animation studio.

“Zootopia,” which features talking animals in a satire on modern society, collected $50 million in U.S. and Canadian cinemas, ComScore Inc. said Sunday in a statement. The film outpaced four other new releases, while beating a forecast of $48 million from analysts at BoxOffice.com. “10 Cloverfield Lane,” a sci-fi thriller from Viacom Inc.’s Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams, debuted in second place, with $25.2 million.
