Christie Tests High Court Nomination Politics With Appointee

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie re-nominated to the state’s highest court David Bauman, a Republican who would be the first Asian-American justice.

Democrats, who must approve such nominations, have blocked the Republican governor’s efforts to reshape the high court. Christie urged lawmakers to set an example for federal legislators.

“There’s no reason not to confirm him,” Christie said at a press conference in Trenton, New Jersey.

Christie, who endorsed Donald Trump last week, refused to answer any questions about topics other than Bauman.
