Mars Inc. recalled candy made at a factory in the Netherlands after a small piece of red plastic was found in a Snickers bar produced at the plant.
Mars made a “precautionary decision to voluntarily recall a selection of Snickers, Mars, Milky Way and Celebration products” made at the facility after a customer in Germany reported finding the plastic, the company said in statement on Tuesday.
Products from that factory, which are labeled “Mars Netherlands,” were shipped to numerous countries and some duty-free retailers. The Associated Press reported that the recall covered products delivered to 55 countries in Europe and elsewhere.
“As a precaution, the product recall is being implemented in all markets served by our Netherlands facility,” the McLean, Virginia-based company said.
