BASF SE, the world’s largest chemical maker, said it will book a 600 million-euro ($651 million) writedown due to a drop in oil and gas prices and earnings for 2015 will be down 18 percent as a result.

The chemical maker predicted income from operations of 6.2 billion euros, a decline of 18 percent on the prior year, according to a statement Wednesday.
