McDonald’s Corp. has outperformed all its major fast-food rivals over the past few months, and it has a lot to do with Egg McMuffins and hash browns.
The company’s shares have surged since October, when the chain made breakfast items available all day -- a change customers have requested for years.
The question now is whether McDonald’s can keep it up. The world’s largest restaurant chain is scheduled to report fourth-quarter earnings on Monday, and Wall Street is expecting to see a bump in its results. Mark Kalinowski, an analyst at Nomura Securities, predicts a 4.1 percent gain in U.S. same-store sales, the best performance in about four years.
