Two former allies of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie secured a six-week delay until May 16 in their trial on charges that they created traffic jams near the George Washington Bridge, according to the judge.

Bill Baroni, the former deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, and Bridget Kelly, Christie’s former deputy chief of staff, had initially faced trial on April 4 in federal court in Newark, New Jersey. The delay may complicate Christie’s campaign for the Republican nomination for the White House.
