UBS Hires Former Manager to Serve as Chief of Staff to New CFO

UBS Group AG has hired Tanja Weiher, formerly a senior manager at the Swiss bank, to serve as chief of staff to new Chief Financial Officer Kirt Gardner.

Weiher has resigned from the board of directors of GAM Holding AG to take up her new role, the Zurich-based asset manager said in a statement Thursday. The company plans to nominate a candidate to replace Weiher at its annual meeting in April.

Gardner took over this month as CFO of UBS, part of a top-level reshuffle announced in November. He succeeds Tom Naratil, who is now in charge of wealth management for the Americas. Previously Gardner was the CFO for wealth management.

Weiher joined UBS in 1998 and held a number of senior management positions before she left the bank to start a management consulting company in 2011. She will return to UBS at the start of next month, the bank said in a memo to employees late Wednesday. A spokesman confirmed the contents Thursday.
