Japanese Reporter Acquitted of Defaming S. Korea President Park

A reporter from Japan’s Sankei newspaper was found not guilty of defaming South Korea’s President Park Geun Hye by a Seoul court.

Seoul Central District Court Judge Lee Dong Geun said that Tatsuya Kato had no intention to defame Park, and that freedom of the press must apply to him.

Kato wrote last year about “rumors” that Park may have been meeting a former aide for several hours following the Sewol ferry disaster.
