Tesla Motors Inc.’s new chief financial officer, Jason Wheeler, will receive a base salary of $500,000 and an initial equity award of $15 million that vests over four years.
Tesla disclosed the compensation in a regulatory filing dated Tuesday. Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said Tuesday that Wheeler, a former vice president of finance at Google Inc., would move to the Palo Alto, California-based electric-car company as of Nov. 30. Wheeler will replace Deepak Ahuja, whose retirement was announced in June.
Ahuja had reported pay of $3.78 million for 2014, according to the company’s most recent proxy statement.
