Dollar Gains as Yellen Says December Rate Rise Live Possibility

Yellen: The U.S. Economy Is Performing Well

The dollar extended gains, rising to its strongest since July versus the euro, after Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said that an interest-rate increase in December is a “live possibility” if economic data hold up.

Yellen’s comments came in response to questions at a House Financial Services Committee hearing.

The dollar added 0.9 percent to $1.0866 per euro as of 11:04 a.m. in New York.
