- Producer Brian Grazer says actor to be ``as raw as he can be''
- Picture to employ cinema verite style of moviemaking, he says
Netflix Inc. is in talks with Imagine Entertainment for a new film starring Eddie Murphy, the production company’s co-chairman said.
Brian Grazer said in a Bloomberg TV interview Wednesday that he likes working with Netflix and was going to make a movie with the subscription video service.
“I’m going to do a tour de force movie, that’s cinéma vérité, with Eddie Murphy being as raw as he can be,” Grazer said at the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit in San Francisco, referring to the documentary style of filmmaking.
Netflix is increasing its investment in original films. On Oct. 16 the video-streaming company will release its first original movie,“Beasts of No Nation,” online and in a small group of theaters. Murphy’s last theatrical release was “A Thousand Words” in 2012.
The company declined to comment.
