Royal Bank of Canada hired Chris Derry as head of high-yield trading in London, according to three people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because they’re not authorized to speak publicly.
Derry held a similar role at Nomura Holdings Inc. before exiting the Japanese lender in August as it cut about 60 fixed-income and credit-derivative positions in London. Prior to joining Nomura, Derry held positions at Credit Suisse Group AG and Bank of America Corp., according to his registration information with the U.K.’s Financial Conduct Authority.
RBC’s previous head of trading and sales for European high-yield bonds and loans, Christiane Schuster, left the bank last month, two people familiar with the matter said at the time.
Louisa Fairman, a spokeswoman for RBC in London, declined to comment on Derry’s hire.
