Hungary Calls Up Military Reserves as Migrants Enter Via Croatia

Hungary is calling up part of its military reserves to help defend its borders against migrants trying to enter the European Union, according to a Defense Ministry statement published on MTI state news service.

The reserves can be utilized on the border for everything except law enforcement, according to the statement.

Croatia is transporting thousands of migrants to the Hungarian border over the objections of the government in Budapest. The migrants, coming through the Balkans, had been diverted to Croatia after Hungary sealed off its border with Serbia earlier this week. Hungary is taking the migrants to the Austrian border.
