NYSE Arca Briefly Had Trouble Routing Trades to Other Markets

NYSE Arca briefly had trouble routing trades to other U.S. stock markets.

The stock exchange said the issue lasted from 3:15 p.m. to 3:34 p.m. New York time and affected all exchange-listed U.S. shares, according to statements on its website. NYSE Arca is a sibling of the New York Stock Exchange.

U.S. stock trading is spread across 11 exchanges and dozens of alternative venues. Each routinely sends trades to other markets, either because of a legal obligation or out of courtesy to its customers. The issue at NYSE Arca apparently prevented it from doing so.
