Cazeneuve Says Religion Shouldn’t Be Factor in Granting Asylum

Religion won’t be a factor used by France to select refugees or find places for them, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said after one mayor said his town would only accept Christian migrants.

In this kind of situation “we don’t even ask what their religion is, protection is global,” Cazeneuve told journalists after a cabinet meeting in Paris.

President Francois Hollande said this week that France will take 24,000 refugees as part of Europe’s response to the migrant crisis.
