Mediobanca SpA hired former Nomura Holdings Inc. executive Philippe Dufournier as head of lending and structured finance, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.
Dufournier, who started Sept. 1, will lead the development of the bank’s advisory and execution, said one of the people, who asked to not be identified because the appointment is not public yet. He is based in London and reports to Stefano Marsaglia, co-head of corporate and investment banking, and Chief Executive Officer Alberto Nagel.
Nagel is expanding Mediobanca’s foreign presence to boost the company’s securities business and sharpen the focus on providing advice and financing across the region. The bank earns 46 percent of its corporate and investment banking revenue outside Italy.
Before joining Mediobanca, Dufournier was head of global finance for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Nomura, and previously worked for Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and Deutsche Bank AG.
