Australian Dollar Declines After Retail Sales Unexpectedly Fall

Australia’s dollar fell after a report showed retail sales unexpectedly declined in July.

The Aussie also dropped against all of its major developed counterparts after the nation had a trade deficit for the month.

Australia’s currency dropped 0.4 percent to 70.13 U.S. cents as of 10:34 a.m. in Tokyo. It slid below 70 cents for the first time since April 2009 on Wednesday.
