Finalist Nishikori Upset in First Round of U.S. Open Tennis

Kei Nishikori, who lost the U.S. Open final last year to Marin Cilic, was eliminated from this year’s tournament in the first round by unseeded Frenchman Benoit Paire.

Paire won 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. Nishikori, of Japan, was seeded fourth.
